Nearly three months after the Iowa legislative session was paused due to COVID-19 concerns, the State House and Senate is set to resume a week from today.

The Republican majority leaders have recommended the public avoid visiting the Capitol at this time to avoid the risk of COVID-19, so House District 20 Representative Ray Sorensen (R) shares how the lawmakers are trying to keep the tail end of this year’s session transparent, “We’ll be streaming all committee meetings from the House Chamber for the first time ever. We have video capabilities in the House and Senate Chambers and we’ll just be running as we run subcommittee meetings, which are usually held in small little cramped rooms they’ll be held out on the House floor, same way in the Senate so people can view that anywhere that anybody has internet access. Additionally, all Iowans will be able to submit written comments on bills through the legislative website.”
