Relaxed restrictions continue to be announced from the Governor’s Office regarding partial openings during the COVID-19 pandemic, but one entity will remain closed in Jefferson.

The Greene County Historical Society has decided to keep the museum in Jefferson closed at this time. The governor’s public health proclamation allowed for museums to be open, with certain restrictions in place, on May 22nd. However, the historical society board chose to keep the building closed to the public at least through next month, due to continuing COVID-19 concerns.

As for the organization’s monthly meetings and programs, those have been postponed until further notice, including the June 5th program on the history of Spring Lake Park, which Program Director Margaret Hamilton is hoping to reschedule to a later date.
