It’s National School Board Appreciation Month and it has certainly been a challenging time for school boards across the country with impacts of COVID-19 on the education system.

Greene County School District Superintendent Tim Christensen expresses his gratitude for the work the school board has done and the decisions that they have made during the pandemic.

“Just really appreciate everything that the Board members have been doing, and especially all the work that they have been doing since we’ve been going through this (pandemic). With COVID-19 and everything, there’s been some challenges and then having online meetings and different things of that nature. But I really appreciate all of the work that our current Board members are doing.”

The School Board also underwent a change in the makeup of the board. The District recently completed its five years of reorganization, following the merger of Jefferson-Scranton and East Greene County school districts, which allowed for a seven member board. There are now five board members, including: Steve Fisher as president, Dr. Steve Karber as vice-president, and board members John McConnell, Mike Dennhardt and Catherine Wilson.
