There’s been a lot of rain in central Iowa over the last couple weeks, and with that typically comes a resurgence of potholes in city streets.

The Perry Public Works Department has been working on filling potholes as often as they can since early spring, and this week they’ve ramped up the ongoing project around the City. Public Works Director Jack Butler says they’ve got a running list of reported potholes and they address them in the order received, and he encourages the public to alert his department when new ones are discovered. “Depending on how the summer goes, you get into a real wet period and it seems like more potholes pop open. So it’s one of (those) projects that you know you do a round in the spring and maybe in the summer, and then you do it again in the fall. It’s a never ending cycle with (those) things. But please if you’ve got something call in, and that way we can get it on the list in case we’ve overlooked it.”

To report a pothole in the City of Perry, contact the public works office at 515-465-2675 during normal business hours. To hear more from Butler, listen to today’s Perry Fareway Let’s Talk Dallas County program on air and at RaccoonValleyRadio.com.
