Dallas County Hospital and Family Medicine Clinics recently revealed their annual honoree for the prestigious DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nursing.

Emily Taylor was selected as this year’s local recipient of the national recognition, and she received the award during a special event this past Tuesday. Taylor has been at DCH for 10 years, starting as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), then moving to Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), and is now a Registered Nurse (RN). She has worked in various departments at the hospital, and currently serves as the Emergency and Inpatient Nursing Manager.

Her nomination letter – which can come from physicians, employees, patients, or families – included several DAISY-worthy qualities. It was commented that Taylor provides care to patients as if they were her family, shows a great deal of compassion, and goes the extra mile to ensure the best patient experience. DCH officials also note that Taylor leads the nursing staff with the same compassion and respect seen by the patients, and they feel she is a positive role model for many.

Since 1999 the nonprofit DAISY Foundation based in California has recognized the outstanding contributions of those in the nursing field throughout the United States. DCH has been involved with the program throughout that time, making a special effort to highlight their nursing staff.
