Around three-percent of the City of Stuart’s population responded to the City’s comprehensive plan public input survey this spring, so the City and Region XII Council of Governments are renewing their effort to get residents’ feedback on what they’d like to see for the City in the next 20 years.

The Council has been working over the last several months with Region XII Regional Planner Freddy Vasquez to update the City’s comprehensive plan, which is a strategic document for the growth and development of the City. Residents were asked to fill out an online survey that was initially closed at the beginning of this month, but after Vasquez informed the Council that it had only received 57 responses, the Council has decided to continue the survey period until August.

Vasquez stresses how residents can influence future decisions of the community, “I believe it’s kind of what we will use – we, as in the City of Stuart, I should say – we’ll kind of use to set those goals for the next 20 years. And anyway, any individual from the City of Stuart can kind of voice their opinion, whether the good, the bad, and anything in between. I think it’s important since each individual plays an important role within the community.”

The survey is anonymous and takes about 10 minutes to complete. A link can be found on the City of Stuart’s web homepage.
