Though consumer fireworks may be easy to obtain in Iowa this time of year, Guthrie County residents are subject to their community’s restrictions on use.

The City of Stuart mirrors state code in allowing residents to sell, purchase, and discharge fireworks from now until July 8th. Fireworks are also only allowed to be discharged from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Fireworks are not allowed to be discharged in the Cities of Guthrie Center and Panora. Those living in unincorporated areas must get a permit approved by the Guthrie County Board of Supervisors. Residents found setting off fireworks illegally are subject to citations or fines. For more information on your city’s fireworks ordinance contact your local City Hall.
