re-taxes

With the most recent public health emergency proclamation extension by Governor Kim Reynolds, new deadlines are in place for those who have yet to pay certain taxes and fees.

Greene County Treasurer Katlynn Mechaelsen tells Raccoon Valley Radio the March installment of property taxes has been pushed back to July 27th, without penalty. Mechaelsen points out the July 27th deadline applies to those who need to renew their driver’s licenses or who need to pay their vehicle registration fees from February-May. She notes anyone whose birthday months are June or July have until August 1st and September 1st respectively to pay your vehicle registration. Additionally, those needing to renew their driver’s license from June or July, have 30 days following their birthday.

Mechaelsen stresses only driver’s license matters require an appointment, but they will take walk-ins for vehicle registrations and property tax payments.

“Right now for appointments we’re really focusing on those people with February, March, April and May birthdays. We will take June and July birthdays. If you have a birthday after July though, we are asking you to wait until your birthday or after to call and get an appointment. We are swamped with people.”
