After a delay to start the year, the Greene County Farmers Market will open for the first time tomorrow.

Organizer Chris Henning says the market will be open Tuesdays from 4-6:30pm on the east side of the Greene County Courthouse. The market didn’t open at the beginning of June, due to COVID-19 concerns. Henning points out there are some changes to how the market will look while following the guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Iowa Department of Public Health.

Patrons are asked to use the designated entry and exit at the market, along with wearing a face covering, only individuals or groups of two may shop together at the market and practice social distancing. Other guidelines include vendors baging purchased items for patrons, limiting your time at the market and organizers urge patrons to not touch the items before they are purchased to limit contact. Hand sanitizer stations and disposable face masks will be available.

Henning points out one of the featured items at Tuesday’s farmers market will be sweet corn.
