Matt Paulsen’s first experience as a high school head coach was anything but typical. Because of COVID-19, the first year Greene County baseball head coach wasn’t sure there would be a 2020 season. There was, but shortened to about half what a normal season would be. Then, the Rams lost the first seven games they played before finishing with a 3-12 record. The season ended with a 15-1 loss last Friday at Class 3A fourth rated Dallas Center-Grimes.

Three seniors finished the season with the Rams. They were Caden Lowmiller, Brent Riley, and Tyler Teeples. All three were starters. Nick Breon was a senior who battled injuries much of the season, then left the Rams late in the regular season to start football workouts with Ellsworth Community College.

Coach Paulsen thanked all the seniors for their efforts and leadership through a season filled with challenges due to the Pandemic and other factors.

Most of the team returns in 2021 and the coach is hoping for a regular off-season, followed by a full season of game starting next May.
