While many summer attractions are closed or restricted due to COVID-19, there are still plenty of ways to enjoy the natural outdoor beauty Dallas County has to offer.

Dallas County Conservation has several facilities that have recently reopened to the public. Forest Park Museum Curator Pete Malmberg says things may look a bit different compared to years past, but there’s still plenty to offer, “Normally we’re dealing with a lot of different people, encouraging more and more folks to come out. This summer we’ve had to make a lot of changes. The visitors center is closed to visitors, and our offices are also closed to visitors. However, our other outside buildings are all open, as are our three historical buildings.”

Malmberg adds there still are restrictions on how many people can visit at a time and the hands-on exhibits have been taken down. Malmberg says they’ve received quite a bit of positive feedback regarding the prairie gardens and seeing an increase in bird watching.
