As COVID-19 has forced the cancellation of over 500 blood drives this year for LifeServe Blood Center, which serves hospitals across Iowa, donors are encouraged to give at an upcoming drive in Guthrie Center.

The Guthrie Center Lions Club is sponsoring a LifeServe community blood drive on Thursday, August 6th from 2:30-6 p.m. at the First Christian Church located at 105 North 4th Street. LifeServe is currently in critical need of A positive and A negative blood types as they have less than a two day supply, and are in urgent need of O negative and O positive blood types as they have a two-three day supply. Donors are required to wear a face mask, and those who don’t have one will be provided a mask at registration. Donors are also asked to take their temperature before arriving, and those with a temperature of 99.5 degrees fahrenheit or higher should reschedule.

Appointments are required for the drive, either by texting LIFESERVE to 999-777, calling 800-287-4903 or visiting lifeservebloodcenter.org.
