Looking back on the 2019 fall sports season, it’s easy to understand why the hype and excitement continues to surround Dallas Center-Grimes Athletics in the 2020-21 school year.

Many key pieces from highly successful programs return to competition this fall, and now with AD, Brent Buttjer having a full year of experience at DC-G under his belt, he knows what the standard and expectation is for Mustang and Fillies athletics.

In 2019, DC-G Cross Country headlined the fall sports season, as the Boys’ team took home the top prize at Fort Dodge, and the Girl’s team closely followed with a runner-up finish.  DC-G Girls’ X/C has finished second in back to back season.

In Volleyball, Cheryl Voelker’s team fell one match short of Cedar Rapids and the State Tournament, falling in 5 sets in the Substate Final at Waverly-Shell Rock.

And in Football, Scott Heitland’s team was one of the biggest turnarounds in the state on the Gridiron.  Going just 1-8 in 2018, the Mustangs turned the ship around for an impressive 9-2 overall record, and a second round appearance in the State Playoffs.  Also, much like the Volleyball program, just one win shy of the State Tournament at the UNI Dome in Cedar Falls.

Another exciting season of DC-G Fillies and Mustangs athletics is set to begin in just 3 weeks.
