Shoppers across the state will have an opportunity to save some money when shopping this weekend.

This Saturday and Sunday is Iowa’s sales tax free weekend. This is the 20th year the State has held this holiday to help with the costs of back to school clothes. Starting Saturday and going through Sunday merchants will not collect sales tax on clothing items for a maximum of $100 purchases. Perry Chamber of Commerce Director Lynsi Pasutti says this is another great opportunity to shop local, “We’re always looking for ways to support our member businesses. Consider supporting our local businesses and doing business locally. Whether it’s shopping and calling ahead and checking on store hours, or doing take-out or delivery for local restaurants. We’re all in it together and supporting each other as we go.”

Items such as watches, watchbands, jewelry, and umbrellas, do not qualify for the tax exemption. You can find more information about the parameters here.
