The City of Perry is taking action to prevent dumping in their recycling trailers.

The City has seen an increase in items such as appliances, furniture, and other non-recyclable items being put in the City’s recycling trailers. When this occurs, it contaminates the whole trailer, thus needing to be taken to the landfill and wastes the items residents want to recycle. To combat this, the Perry Public Works Department has placed chains on the trailers. This limits the space in which they open so larger items can’t be thrown away. Recycling sites are also being monitored by video surveillance, which will be used to issue citations for those littering.
