Damage inflicted to kitchen at Panora house fire Monday.

Adair and Guthrie County Emergency Management, Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office, and other agencies are continuing to address the damage from Monday morning’s severe thunderstorm.

Emergency Management Coordinator Bob Kempf tells Raccoon Valley Radio that there have been reports of downed trees and power lines across the county, as well as crop damage in the northern portion of the county. Kempf says a mobile home lost its roof in Bagley, and they’ve been in communication with the homeowner about receiving assistance from American Red Cross. The Guthrie Center and Panora fire departments responded to a house that was struck by lightning and caught fire at 314 West Main Street, the home of Cynthia Hester, in Panora. Panora Fire Chief Matt Harmann says the departments responded at about 10:30 a.m. and left at 12:30 p.m. Damage was mostly contained to the kitchen, and no one was injured. Panora Police and Rescue, and the Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the scene.

Power outages have occurred throughout the County, including the courthouse which County Auditor Dani Fink says was without power from about 10:30 a.m. to 12:05 p.m. The Sheriff’s Office and health services building were able to remain power with their backup generators. Sheriff Marty Arganbright has been responding to reports across the county for power line and tree damage, and he advises motorists not to drive over any fallen power lines or other debris. Kempf advises residents who have received property damage to call and leave a message at his office phone number, 641-332-3030.
