Monday morning severe thunderstorms brought lots of property damage across Greene County.

Greene County Emergency Management Coordinator Dennis Morlan tells Raccoon Valley Radio the 60-70 miles per hour straight line winds and heavy rainfall from the store has caused county-wide power outages, as well as the main distribution lines in the southern portion of the county to be disrupted. Morlan estimates at least $1 million of damage to Cobblestone Inn and Suites, which is attached to Wild Rose Casino and Resorts in Jefferson. He says they lost a roof and there is significant water damage throughout the structure. Morlan notes Super 8 Hotel in Jefferson also suffered severe roof damage and there are overturned campers at Holiday RV. Morlan adds, there is massive tree damage across the county, including whole tree uprooted which temporarily blocked roads.

Additionally, the Greene County Courthouse is closed for the rest of the day, due to not having power or phone lines available. Morlan says the Greene County Medical Center and the law enforcement center in Jefferson are currently running on generator power. Jefferson City Administrator Mike Palmer tells Raccoon Valley Radio the streets are passable once again and residents can still take tree debris to the yard waste site near Daubendiek Park. Residents can also put tree limbs at curbside and city crews will collect them when they can. Palmer adds his appreciation for neighbors, law enforcement, fire departments and city crews that have helped remove debris from the streets.

Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
