Broken tree at Jefferson Cemetery

Clean up efforts are continuing across Greene County following Monday’s storm.

Several residents are still without power. According to Midland Power Cooperative as of 2pm a total of 288 customers were still without power and Alliant Energy reports 381 customers are without power in the county.

The Greene County Courthouse and Jefferson City Hall have power and are open for normal services. Greene County Engineer Wade Weiss says the Secondary Roads Department traveled nearly 1,000 miles of county roads Monday and only eight portions of roads remain blocked due to down power lines. There is also crop damage across the county. Jefferson Public Works Director Dave Morlan says all streets in the City are passable and residents are reminded to take any storm brush to the yard waste site near Daubendiek Park. He reminds residents that it is not the City’s responsibility to remove broken tree limbs if they are in the easement area, it’s the property owners responsibility.
