Guthrie County has recently been added to Governor Kim Reynolds disaster proclamation.

Guthrie County joins 26 other Iowa counties as part of the disaster proclamation, following Monday’s derecho storm. The proclamation allows for funding for relief. Guthrie County residents can apply for the Individual Assistance Grant Program, which provides up to $5,000 for household incomes of up to 200-percent poverty level. Funding can be used for home or car repairs, replacing clothing or food and temporary housing expenses. Applications will be accepted 45 days from August 10th to submit a claim.

The proclamation also allows for individuals to utilize the disaster case management program. This program addresses serious needs due to disaster related hardships including injury or adverse conditions. Disaster care managers will work with clients to create a disaster recovery plan and provide guidance, advice and referrals for services and resources. Applicants have 180 days from August 10th to use this resource, which has no income eligibility requirements.

The entire Raccoon Valley Radio listening area, including Greene and Dallas counties, are now all designated in the disaster proclamation.
