A Bayard man was life flighted to Iowa Methodist Medical Center after rolling an all-terrain vehicle last week.

According to Iowa State Patrol, at about 3:05 p.m. August 10th, 71-year-old Richard Lee Henson was driving a Honda Rancher four wheeler eastbound in a wooded, hilly, back pasture of his residence when he lost control and rolled his vehicle. Henson was ejected from the vehicle and was eventually pinned underneath the ATV which came to a rest wheels up. Henson was not found until about 6 a.m. the next morning where he was alert and conscious. The ATV was removed off Henson and he was transported out of the woods on a stretcher by Panora Emergency Medical Services and transported to Guthrie County Hospital, where he was later transported to Des Moines for treatment of injuries. Bayard Ambulance and the Guthrie County Sheriff’s Office also assisted at the scene.
