A Dexter man was arrested on several charges after trying to break through businesses’ windows early Saturday morning.

According to the criminal complaint, a Guthrie County Sheriff’s Deputy was in Stuart at about 1:45 a.m. assisting the Stuart Police Department with a fight at one of the downtown bars when law enforcement was called to respond to 40-year-old Timothy Shawn Ollom, who was beating on the glass windows of Ruby’s Pub and Grill and Johnie’s Tap before driving away from the scene. Law enforcement then went to Ollom’s residence in the 8100 block of Ivy Street and when Ollom arrived he appeared to be intoxicated. An open beer container was found in his vehicle, and because Ollom was acting very agitated, the Deputy and officer placed handcuffs on him. Ollom made verbal threats toward the Deputy and then had to be carried to the Deputy’s vehicle.

After Ollom was placed in the vehicle he banged his head against the security bars and split his head open. In the prior struggle with Ollom the Deputy had injured his ribs and had trouble breathing and moving without pain. The defendant and the Deputy were both checked by Emergency Medical Services before Ollom was taken to the Guthrie County Jail. Damage to the patrol vehicle is estimated at greater than $1,500. Ollom is charged with second degree criminal mischief, a class D felony; interference with official acts and operating while under the influence first offense, both serious misdemeanors; and disorderly conduct, a simple misdemeanor. He posted a $5,000 surety bond and was released Saturday afternoon. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
