The Iowa High School football season kicks off in full gear tonight when the Perry Bluejays welcome Greene County to Dewey Field for a 7:30 kickoff.  The game will mark the coaching debut of Perry’s Bryce Pierce, who took the job this past spring following the resignation of Matt Hardy.  Pierce has been trying to figure out his returning personnel while at the same time getting to know his team and the individual strengths of his players.

“Yeah, right now we are trying to focus and discover who we are and how we want to manage our team personnel.  We have film from Greene County after last year’s game but to be honest we are just trying to prepare our guys for what we want to do.  We have a lot of guys who will be out there for the first time at the varsity level.”

Jeremiah Cregeen will get the nod at the starting quarterback position for Perry while Abe Ruiz will see the majority of the reps at running back.

Shawn Kenney and former Iowa Hawkeye Jason Olejniczak will provide the commentary tonight on the radio starting at 6:15 on KDLS 99.7/1310 AM and online at raccoonvalleyradio.com.
