A Jefferson man was arrested for drug possession following a traffic stop on Saturday.

According to the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy stopped 46-year-old Michael Eastman for speeding on R Avenue near 235th Street at 4:33pm. Sheriff Jack Williams tells Raccoon Valley Radio Eastman had exited the vehicle shortly after it was stopped and proceeded to throw several items into a cornfield. Following the incident, Eastman was arrested and charged with two Class D Felonies for his third or subsequent offense for possession of methamphetamine and possession of marijuana, along with an aggravated misdemeanor for driving while barred and a simple misdemeanor for possession of drug paraphernalia. 

He was booked and released from the Greene County Jail under his own recognizance. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
