A Jefferson woman was recently arrested for alleged forgery at Wild Rose Casino.

According to the Jefferson Police Department, an officer responded to the call of a possible forgery incident at the casino at 6:48pm Saturday. Police Chief Mark Clouse tells Raccoon Valley Radio 60-year-old Jill Zito was attempting to break a $100 into smaller denominations at the casino cashier area. Clouse notes the $100 was marked as “prop money” only to be used in motion pictures. He says it isn’t illegal to possess this kind of money, but once it is used to purchase goods or services, then it becomes a crime.

Clouse notes that Zito told the officer as well as casino personnel that she received the bill from one of the casino machines. Clouse says the claim wasn’t corroborated upon review of casino video surveillance and she was then arrested.

Zito is charged with a Class D Felony for forgery and she was booked and then released from the Greene County Jail under her own recognizance. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
