Though the Stuart Sesquicentennial Celebration has been pushed to 2021, the legacy and beautification committee can check one of its projects off their to-do list.

Iowa Sign Company finished the installation of a new Lawbaugh Park sign last Friday after about a week’s construction of the brick base and black metal sign, which matches the City’s signage located on the south and east sides of town. The new sign replaces a decades-old wooden structure and is sure to catch motorists’ eyes with its size and clear verbiage. The Sesquicentennial planning committee and the Stuart Chamber of Commerce thanks all those who contributed. The sign was paid for by a $5,000 Guthrie County Community Foundation grant, a $2,000 Empowering Adair County Foundation grant, $2,000 from Johnie’s Tap, $1,000 from Jeff Marnin of Specialty Storage, $1,000 from Rose Acre Farms, $1,000 from Casey’s General Store, $500 in memory of Wayne and Florence Cook, and $1,500 from the Chamber.
