There can be victories, even in losses. That’s the case for 2016 Paton-Churdan graduate Noah Juergensen. Iowa State lost in Ames to Louisiana 31-14 on Saturday in the season opening football game for both teams, but walk-ons everywhere had a win of sorts when the 6′ 4″ 309 lbs. fifth year senior offensive guard saw his most extensive action as a Cyclone.

Juergensen, who played high school football in Jefferson for Greene County through an athletic sharing agreement, had been in a total of one game in his ISU career before Saturday. He entered the contest due to an injury in the offensive line in the second quarter and remained in the lineup the rest of the game. Talk about perseverance! The former Rocket and Ram spent year after year toiling behind the scenes. His minutes on Saturday were the most ever in a DI football game for any Greene County Rams player, and the most for a P-C grad since the Doran brothers, Jim and Lant, played at ISU in the late 1980’s/early ’90’s.
