A Greene County employee has tested positive for COVID-19.

County Engineer Wade Weiss confirms to Raccoon Valley Radio that a secondary roads employee was experiencing COVID-19 symptoms about 14 days ago, was self-quarantined and then tested positive for the virus. Weiss says through working with Greene County Public Health and contact tracing, it was discovered that the employee was in close proximity with another secondary roads employee and that individual was also put into self-quarantine.

Weiss says there were three additional employees who may have been exposed to the virus, but they did not meet the criteria to be tested or be quarantined. It was determined that since those employees were not at risk they were allowed to go back to work.

Weiss states that his department continues to follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and Iowa Department of Public Health guidelines to prevent the spread of the virus and are following protocols from Greene County Public Health when a positive case is reported.
