adm-7

The term deja vu is one that happens to people all the time, and for ADM Tiger football, they had a case of it last night when they played their second consecutive overtime game, and pulled out the victory winning in a thriller in double overtime 50-49 over Norwalk in Adel.

The Tigers would win in the decisive second overtime with some individual efforts that truly made a difference in the game. Sophomore Vince Benetti was able to block the PAT, his second block of the night and a play that kept the Warrior lead by only six. On ADMs possession, Norwalk played good defense and forced them into a 4th down from the six yard line. Senior quarterback Tate Stine-Smith was under duress going back to pass, avoided the rush, and was somehow able to maneuver out of it and find his way into the end zone for the touchdown. Senior Dylan Anderson would be able to boot the extra point through for the walk off victory for the Tigers.

Norwalk got out to a quick start in the game, going up 13-0 in the first quarter and taking a 29-21 lead going into halftime after a good ADM comeback in the half thanks to Stine-Smith with a pair of rushing touchdowns and senior Justice Paulsen finding the end zone as well. In the second half, ADM was able to score quickly twice on a passing screen to junior Matt Dufoe and another score from Stine-Smith as well. ADM and Norwalk traded punts in the fourth quarter until the game couldn’t be decided in 48 minutes, and the game had to be decided in extra time.

ADM was able to extraordinary performances from a ton of players on the night, as defensively only gave up seven points in the second half against a great Norwalk offense, and had some big plays including an interception from Ty Hook in Tiger territory near the end of regulation, taking the game into overtime.

The Tigers fought and clawed their way to victory all night long, in of the grittiest performances that this Tiger team has put together. ADM improves to 1-2 on the season while Norwalk falls to 0-3.

The Tigers will have another big district game next week at home when they welcome their 169 rival the Winterset Huskies to town.
