Friday, September 11th

7:34am: James Harris reported the Theft of Tools from his vehicle while parked at 2009 North Mulberry Street. A cell phone was also missing. The officer is investigating.

1:41pm: An officer assisted a DHS Case Worker with a Home Visit at 704 North Chestnut Street.

2:20pm: A 911 Call came in from 1409 North Elm Street. The officer arrived and learned two employees were involved in a Verbal Argument. The business owner assisted in helping the employees work out the issue and nothing criminal had occurred.

3:47pm: An officer investigated a Property Damage Accident at Elm and West South Streets. A 2014 Chevrolet CTV owned and operated by Claudette Sherlock of Jefferson was northbound in the inside lane of South Elm Street. Sherlock slowed her vehicle to allow a vehicle ahead of her to turn west onto West South Street. A 2006 Toyota SR5, owned and operated by Darrell Meinecke of Jamaica could not stop in time and rear ended the Sherlock vehicle. The Sherlock vehicle had a reported $4000.00 in damages to the rear of the unit, while the Meinecke vehicle had a reported $1000.00 in front end damage. Meinecke was cited for, “Following too Closely.”

10:44pm: A caller advised of a group of teens drag racing at the Greene County Middle School, located at 100 Ram Drive. The officer parked in the area for an extended time but did not witness anything illegal occurring.

11:16pm: An officer performed a Traffic Stop in the 500 Block of South Walnut Street. During the stop the officer was given consent to search the vehicle by the driver. The officer located a marijuana cigarette in the vehicle and seized it for testing. Justin Michael Cosnotti of Jefferson was cited for, “Fail to Have a Valid Driver’s License.” Charges are pending lab results on the seized item.

Saturday, September 12th

3:05pm: Fareway reported the Theft of Money by an employee at 1207 North Elm Street. When management showed the employee the video of the event, they confessed to taking $40.00 from the cash register and taking the money. The officer is sending a Juvenile Charge for a 16- year old female to the Juvenile Court for, “Theft 5 th Degree – Simple.”

3:47pm: William Blanchard requested an officer at 306 West Washington Street for a male attempting to break into the apartment. The officer arrived and spoke to Blanchard and learned the male subject has been living at the apartment. Blanchard was advised to do a Civil Eviction on the male if he no longer wants him staying there.

7:36pm: Lisa Schroeder reported a Suspicious Backpack lying near the alley in the 100 Block of North Chestnut Street. The officer arrived and located a male grabbing the backpack. The male advised he laid it there while he went shopping at Dollar General. He consented to the officer checking inside the backpack. Nothing illegal was located and he was allowed on his way.

8:04pm: An officer performed a Traffic Stop with a vehicle that had a brake light out near Gallop and North Elm Streets. During the stop the officer noticed the wrong registration sticker was on the vehicle’s plate. Tray Shaffe Habhab, 55 of Dakota City was cited for, “Fraudulent Use of Registration and Driving While Suspended. Habhab had an Outstanding Texas Arrest Warrant for, “Fail to Appear” on a Theft charge there. The officer arrested Habhab for the outstanding arrest warrant.

Sunday, September 13th

12:18am: An officer assisted a deputy with a Rolling Domestic Argument occurring just east of Jefferson on 230th Street. The deputy handled all actions taken at the scene.

1:56pm: Lisa Willis advised of a sick raccoon at 800 West Madison Street. The officer dispatched the sick racoon and removed the carcass.

3:22pm: Bill Monroe reported a Car Alarm sounding in the 200 Block of South Chestnut Street. The officer located a vehicle parked in a garage with the alarm sounding. No one was home at the residence, so the officer entered the garage to make sure no one needed assistance. No one was located in the garage. The officer shut off the car alarm.

7:30pm: Lisa Mobley reported her daughter had located a short video on a Social Media Chat Group where a subject shows a gun and advises he is going to kill someone. The officer viewed the video and determined the gun was a BB gun. He advised Mobley her daughter should delete the group and stay off of the site in the future.

7:56pm: A Traffic Stop in the 1000 Block of East Lincoln Way Street resulted in Daniel Gehling of Scranton being cited for, “Defective Muffler System.”

8:26pm: An officer assisted a Deputy with a Car vs. Deer Accident on Hwy. 4 south of Jefferson on the curves. The deputy investigated the accident.

11:03pm: An officer performed a Traffic Stop in the 200 Block of South Elm Street with a vehicle that had Dark Windows. During the stop the officer smelled the strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. During a “Probable Cause” Search of the vehicle the officer located numerous narcotic related items and a small amount of suspected marijuana. The items were seized for testing. Levi Cummings of Jefferson was issued citations for, “Dark Windows and Curfew Violation.” Charges are pending lab results on the seized items.

11:41pm: Alexis Jordan requested an officer at 104 East Monroe Street. She advised she and her boyfriend were involved in an argument and he was not allowing her to leave with the children. The officer worked to diffuse the issue and Jordan left with the children.
