A largely inexperienced Greene County volleyball team played four matches and 10 sets on Saturday in Hubbard at the South Hardin Tournament. Coach Chris Heisterkamp’s team went 0-4 in matches and 2-8 in sets. Saturday was by far the most the Rams have played in one day and marked their first tournament this season. The coach said, “We had some shining moments, but not enough to overcome the unforced errors which plagued us throughout the day. On a good note, I believe a couple players stepped up and broke through to the next level, individually. As a team, we had some issues with passing and communication that held us back. The losses are hard, but we’ll get back into practice and hope for better next time.”

The Rams lost to Boone 14-21, 22-20, 12-15, followed by a 12-21, 8-21, loss to Gladbrook-Reinbeck, a 13-21, 16-21, loss to Webster City, and then falling to Edgewood-Colesburg, 22-24, 21-10, 11-15.

The two senior hitters on the team led in kills with 21 for Brianna Osterson and 12 by Lily Muir. Sophomore Bella Schroeder had 10 kills with three each for sophomores Analynn Baugh, Katrina Heupel, and Natalie Heupel. Freshman Kaylee Stalder had two kills.

Natalie Heupel had a 23 for 23 day at the service line with Lily Muir 20 for 20. Osterson was 22 of 24 serving and senior Eliza Carlson went 28 of 31 serving.
