The Perry School board had the opportunity to review the first few weeks of the school year during their regular meeting Monday.

The meeting began with teachers from each building updating the Board on how their day-to-day activities have been changed due to the circumstances brought on by COVID-19. Each teacher who spoke showed appreciation for the Board approving an earlier dismissal so they can dedicate more of their time to the students learning online. As of Monday, there were 222 students enrolled in the remote learning option.

The Board also approved the issuance of $10,000,000 in school infrastructure sales, services, and use of tax revenue bonds to take a critical step towards their goal of providing improvements to the middle school. The Board then approved the transfer of $131,817 from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act fund to the school nutrition fund. Other items approved by the Board were the student teaching agreement with the University of Northern Iowa, IASB legislative priorities, food service agreements, and personnel changes.
