There are two upcoming programs with the Jefferson Parks and Recreation Department.

The annual youth punt, pass and kick contest is tomorrow at Kelso Park. Youth 6-15 years-old is encouraged to participate. Each child will get to compete for who can punt, pass and kick a football the longest, without using cleats. There are five age groups and awards will be given to the first and second place. The contest is free and check-ins begin at 6pm, with the competition to start at 6:30pm. Pre-registrations are encouraged but not required.

Another youth program is the mini cheerleading camp that is for any pre-kindergarten-fifth grader. The camp will be held next Tuesday and Thursday from 4-5pm at the Greene County Community Center in Jefferson. Participants will learn cheers, jumps and routines. However, due to COVID-19 concerns there will be no performance this year at the high school varsity football game. Cost to attend is $10 for community center members and $15 for non-members, and it will be led by the high school cheerleader coach Shannon Black.

Call 515-386-3412 or stop by the community center to sign up for either program.
