The Greene County School District recently released new information regarding the number of positive test cases that were initially reported Wednesday evening. In a statement released on the District’s Facebook page, that after consultation with Greene County Public Health, it has been confirmed that there are two students and one staff member at the elementary and one student and one staff member at the middle school that tested positive. 

The District says contact tracing is ongoing with public health, and only those that are determined to have been in close contact with the positive individuals will be contacted directly. According to the District’s mask requirement matrix, both buildings are at the red level, which means masks are required to be worn at all times until further notice. If a student decides not to wear a mask, they will do remote learning. 

As for the Paton-Churdan School District, they reported one positive case of a staff member Wednesday evening as well. Contact tracing is complete for those who may be exposed. According to the state COVID-19 dashboard as of Thursday, Greene County’s positivity rate was 8.3-percent with 78 positive cases throughout the county.
