Des Moines Public Schools are currently in a legal battle with the Governor’s office and the Iowa High School Athletic Association regarding their district being ineligible to play fall sports with 100% online learning.  One of Iowa’s courts has already deemed DMPS out of compliance with the law, yet they continue to defy and fight.

With the fact that Des Moines Hoover was scheduled to play Dallas Center-Grimes tonight, that has put the Mustangs in an awkward position without a game for a Week 4 Bye Week.  DC-G Head Coach, Scott Heitland, leads the #1 ranked Mustangs into an extended period to prepare for their next two opponents; Norwalk and ADM.

In an interview earlier this week with Raccoon Valley Radio, Heitland said he is more than comfortable with extra time before facing two very explosive squads like Norwalk and ADM.  The records for the next two opponents are misleading.  Norwalk is winless at 0-3, and ADM is just 1-2.  The one Tiger win came last Friday versus Norwalk in 2OT.

Next Friday’s match-up versus Norwalk will also be Homecoming for DC-G, with kickoff scheduled for 7:00pm.
