Greene County ran in the Panorama Invitational coed cross-country meet on Thursday at the Par 3 Golf Course at Lake Panorama. Coach Jeff Lamoureux’s boys were eighth among 20 teams while the girls were last in a field of 17 teams.

Leading the Rams on the boys’ side was Luis Velazco, who earned a medal for a top 20 finish. He was 17th for the five kilometers (3.1 miles) in 18:22. Logan Woodruff was 23rd in 18:38, with Jayden Carstensen 45th in 19:35, Dakota Mobley 56th in 19:58, and Ethan Frederick 58th in 19:59.

Conner Allender covered the five kilometers in 25:05 to lead the Greene County girls with a 57th place finish. Malala Kafer was 108th in 27:29, followed by Olivia Shannon 109th, also in 27:29. Autumn Stevens was 135th in 29:54 and Sadie Wilson finished 141st in 30:29. The Rams had the minimum five runners for team scoring purposes.

Panorama was the team champion for girls with 59 points. The Rams had 422. On the boys, side, Madrid was the winner at 60 points with Greene County scoring 199.

Coach Jeff Lamoureux said, “This is always one of the toughest meets of the year, both in regards to the course as it is very challenging with many hills, and the competition level. Many of the top teams in the area were at this meet. The times continue to improve and I look forward to our upcoming meets.”

The Rams have added a Monday, Sept. 21 meet to the schedule. They’ll run at the West Marshall coed meet on the Lincoln Valley Golf Course just east of State Center. They also have a Thursday, Sept. 24 meet at Story City on the schedule for next week hosted by Roland-Story.
