After having a week off due to the canceled Dallas Center-Grimes vs. Des Moines Hoover game, the DC-G Mustangs and Head Coach, Scott Heitland have spent the extra time preparing for their upcoming District 8 opponents.   This week, DC-G welcomes in Norwalk.  Norwalk is riding a wave of confidence following their trouncing of Perry last week, although the Warriors are just 1-3 on the season.

The 1-3 Norwalk mark is somewhat misleading, however.  The Warriors pushed ADM to double overtime a couple of weeks back, and lost by 2 at Indianola the week before.  Norwalk has an explosive offense, especially through the air, and Heitland’s team and coaching staff have their work cut out for them to slow down Quarterback, Max Juergens.

Through 4 games this season, Juergens is 59/95 passing, with 951 yards, and 13 touchdowns.  Juergens receivers have also been a big detriment to defenses, with Norwalk Seniors, Ethan Carlson and Chase McKinney combining for 10 of the 13 passing TDs.

Just past the midway point of the regular season, Juergens is sitting on a 146.2 quarterback rating.

Last season, DC-G won at Norwalk in OT, 27-21.  The Mustangs trailed most of that game, but rallied in the fourth quarter to push for overtime.

Friday night’s DC-G and Norwalk game is set to kickoff at 7:00pm in Grimes.
