Tomorrow night the Greene County Rams end the 2020 COVID-19 shortened football regular season with their longest road trip so far. Coach Caden Duncan’s team plays a Class 2A District 9 contest at Shenandoah at 7 p.m. on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com. Coverage starts at 6 p.m. This is the second straight year the Rams have ventured well into Page County to play the Mustangs. From Jefferson, it’s more than 135 miles and 2-1/2 hours by car nonstop.

Shenandoah was 0-9 two years ago, and won twice in 2019. They are 3-3 so far this season, but have dropped their last two games to Clarinda and Atlantic by a combined score of 77-10.

Greene County is 4-2 and the Rams are riding a three-game winning streak after last Friday night’s victory at home in overtime vs. Clarinda, 22-15. The Rams stopped the Cardinals twice just outside the Greene County goal line to preserve the victory on third and goal, then again on fourth down in OT.

All teams are eligible for the playoffs this season. It’s expected playoff pairings for the Oct. 16 opening round will be available this Saturday at 12 p.m. on the Iowa High School Athletic Association website.
