Iowa farmers are continuing to make progress on this year’s harvest.

According to the latest Crop Progress and Condition report from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, corn harvest for grain has reached 42%, 17 days ahead of last year and five days ahead of the five-year average. Soybean harvest reached 78% harvested. Without substantial rainfall, farmers had 6.6 days suitable for fieldwork.

Corn is at 97% mature or beyond, three weeks ahead of last year’s pace. Corn condition rated 42% good-to-excellent, unchanged from last week. Soybean coloring or beyond is now at 90%, two weeks ahead of 2019, and one week ahead of the five-year average. Soybean condition is rated at 48% good-to-excellent.
