A burn ban has been issued for Adair and Guthrie counties as of Wednesday afternoon.

After receiving a request from Adair and Guthrie County Emergency Management Coordinator Bob Kempf Wednesday, State Fire Marshal Dan Wood now prohibits open burning in either county, as conditions are such that open burning constitutes a danger to life or property. Kempf mentions that the burn ban request was voted in favor by the counties’ fire chiefs, and will be in effect until the chiefs vote to lift them. Any violation of the proclamation order is a simple misdemeanor.
