This Saturday is National Drug Take Back Day, and the Greene County Sheriff’s Office is participating in taking expired and unwanted drugs out of homes and off the streets.

Sheriff Jack Williams tells Raccoon Valley Radio the details of what people can do for their part in Drug Take Back Day.

“You can bring any drug, (including) prescription drug, over-the-counter drug, or if you want to bring in controlled substances to turn them in, you can bring those in with no questions asked to the Sheriff’s Office. If you want to bring any of those things in for disposal, we will take them and turn them over to the DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) for destruction.”

Williams says they will not accept any needles or aerosol substances. He points out that drug labels don’t need to be removed before submitting them to be disposed of. The Sheriff’s Office will be open from 8am-4:30pm this Saturday. Williams adds, they will also accept any unwanted drugs throughout the year, again with no questions asked.
