The Iowa High School Athletic Association released four team “pods” for the next two rounds of the football playoffs. Greene County has a Class 2A round of 16 contest in Pod B at Monroe vs. PCM. The Rams and Mustangs are both Heart of Iowa Activities Conference members, but they have not been assigned to the same football district ever, therefore haven’t played each other in that sport. The game is on Friday, Oct. 30 and will be broadcast on KG98 and streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com with coverage at 6 p.m. and kickoff at 7 o’clock.

Coach Caden Duncan’s team is 7-2 on the season and winners of their last six games. Both wins in round one and round two of the playoffs have been by shut out, 49-0 vs. Red Oak and 24-0 against Clarinda. PCM is 8-0 and ranked number two in 2A. The Mustangs won the state title in 2A in 2018. PCM had a first round playoff bye and won on Friday night in round two 61-0 vs. Saydel (Des Moines).

Atlantic is at West Marshall (State Center) in the other Pod B game on Oct. 30. The two winners face off in the Nov. 6 quarterfinals at a site to be determined.
