A Stuart man was recently convicted of an amended charge for an Adair County incident.

Court documents show that through a plea agreement 31-year-old Tyrone Anthony Morris’ original charge of possession of a firearm by a felon, a class D felony was amended to carrying weapons, an aggravated misdemeanor. Morris was given a suspended two-year prison sentence to serve two years of probation with credit for time already served. A class D felony charge for trafficking stolen weapons was dismissed. Morris must pay a $625 fine with the statutory 15% surcharge and restitution. The charges stemmed from an April 11th incident when the Stuart Police Department responded to a shots fired incident in the 600 block of Southwest 7th Street. Officers arrested Morris and another suspect after a stolen weapon and marijuana was found.
