Raccoon Valley Radio’s Caring Christmas Food Drive is making a couple stops around Guthrie County this week, encouraging residents to give what they can for residents that are food insecure.

The Big Red Radio will be broadcasting live on 107.9 FM, KKRF from 3-5 p.m. Thursday at the Guthrie Center Hometown Foods, and from 5-7 p.m. Friday at the Hometown Market in Earlham sponsored by Earlham Building Center. During those stops the Big Red Radio will be collecting monetary and food donations and registering people for the Caring Christmas Cash Giveaway. The donations made in Guthrie Center will then be given to the New Opportunities Guthrie County Family Development Center’s food pantry. Located in Guthrie Center City Hall, the pantry is accessible to their low-income clients, which Coordinator Rhonda Huggins says since the COVID-19 pandemic they have tripled the number of trips clients can make to the pantry. Huggins shares what donations they could use, “Items that we are always low on would be canned soup of all kinds, tuna. Right now at this moment we have plenty of peanut butter but we can always use any nonperishable food items. Whatever people want to give we will find a home for, because people are in need all the time.”

The Big and Little Big Red Radios will be making stops across the Raccoon Valley Radio listening area this holiday season for the Caring Christmas Food Drive, which you can find a link to more information here.
