The season of giving is in even more need because of the COVID-19 pandemic this year, and Raccoon Valley Radio is offering the opportunity to give back to your local community while getting the chance to win $1,000 during the Caring Christmas Food Drive.

The Big Red Radio is broadcasting live from 3-5 p.m. Tuesday, November 24th at the Hometown Foods in Guthrie Center, where the public can drop off food or monetary donations, or make a contactless money donation with our new QR Code “Table Toppers.” You can find a table topper at one of the participating sponsors, scan the QR Code with a smartphone camera which will direct you to a safe, secure way to make an online donation processed by Square.

Donations in Guthrie Center will be given to the New Opportunities Guthrie County Family Development Center located in Guthrie Center City Hall. Since the pandemic, Coordinator Rhonda Huggins says they’ve quadrupled the number of visits their clients can make to their food pantry, “It was every three months but now because of COVID and the situations that a lot of our families are in we have upped that to be they can come every month, doesn’t even have to be 30 days between the times they come. If they came on the last week of October they can come now, you know? Because it’s November.”

Tomorrow the Big Red Radio will be broadcasting live from 3-5 p.m. at the Jefferson Hy-Vee, and from 5-7 p.m. at the Hometown Market in Earlham sponsored by Earlham Building Center. More information on the food drive and opportunities to win cash this holiday season can be found here.
