The Greene County boys’ won’t have the usual number of practices before they open the basketball season if things remain the way they are. Greene County is set to open the 2020-21 girls and boys basketball seasons in Jefferson inside the new high school gym in Jefferson vs. Roland-Story (Story City) on Dec. 4. The Rams have not begun boys’ practice yet due to the school district being on 100% virtual learning, which means no practices or activities can be held through Nov. 24.

Practice for Coach Chris Nelson’s team is set to begin on Nov. 25, but the coach said with teams players back with varsity experience from last season and a number of open gyms this fall, he feels like he knows his varsity players pretty well. “Bryce Stalder is our only starter back from last season, but Zach Goff, Jackson Morton, Max Riley, Richard Daughtery, and Jesse Miller, all saw variety time.” Morton is out with a broken collar bone suffered in week nine of the football season. The Coach doesn’t expect Morton to play until January.
