There are plenty of chances for everyone to donate food items to local food pantries this week with Raccoon Valley Radio’s Caring Christmas Food Drives.

One way to donate food items is from the live remote broadcasts this week. Today, Big Red Radio will be at Adel Fareway from 3-5pm. Then on Tuesday, the Little Big Red Radio will be at Hometown Foods in Guthrie Center from 3-5pm and the Big Red Radio will be at Perry Hy-Vee sponsored by Raccoon Valley Bank from 4-6pm. Then on Wednesday, the Big Red Radio will be at Jefferson Fareway from 3-5pm and will return to Fareway on Saturday from 1-3pm, sponsored by Carroll Hydraulics. Finally, on Sunday the Big Red Radio will be at Wild Rose Casino and Resort in Jefferson from noon-2pm. Anyone can donate food items or make a monetary donation during the broadcasts, with all donations to stay in that community’s food pantry.

Greene County Action Resource Center Manager Shirley Haupert says the Caring Christmas Food Drive really helps them out during the more demanding part of the year for needed food items.

“This time of year it’s so important because people are running a little bit short of money to buy food or to pay bills. This is a way to really get the word out.”

Two additional ways to donate are using a QR Code on your smartphone from any of the sponsors “Table Toppers,” which is a contactless way to donate via Square, and by going to raccoonvalleyradio.com and donating online. Each time you donate, you will be entered into the Caring Christmas Cash Giveaway, with three $1,000 prizes. Click the link below to find out more information.
