Greene County’s high school wrestlers starting practice yesterday morning. The early season practices are being conducted in the old middle school gym because the remodel of the current middle school is not complete, and both middle school and high school wrestling practice will be conducted in the current middle school once construction has been completed. High school wrestling meets will be held in the new high school gym in Jefferson.

Coach Zach Beekman’s team started practice nine days later than most teams due to the school district being on 100% virtual learning Nov. 16-24, but the Rams aren’t scheduled to open the season now until Dec. 10. The coach talked with Raccoon Valley Radio about that. “The practice time will end up being about the same. We cut two meets (Dec. 1 and Dec. 5), and just felt we needed a good solid amount of practice before we jumped into our first competition. On the negative side of that, you end up losing two competitions.”

As it stands now, the Rams will begin the wrestling season on Dec. 10 in Adel vs. ADM and Gilbert.
