After having the start of high school wrestling delayed due to 100% virtual learning, then having none of their first four competition dates take place, could this be the week Greene County wrestling finally gets underway? Coach Zach Beekman’s varsity team is schedule for three competition dates in the next five days starting with a quadrangular tonight, a triangular Thursday, and a tournament on Saturday.

The Rams head northeast to Iowa Falls to face Iowa Falls-Alden, Gilbert, and Baxter today. They are scheduled to meet Nevada and I-35 (Truro) on Thursday in Nevada, then go to the Tiger-Knight Invitational at Carroll High on Saturday.

If all three take place, some Rams could get as many as 10 matches before the break for the holidays begins. Due to forfeits, byes, injuries, and COVID-19 concerns, some wrestlers could see far less mat time, but Coach Beekman is hopeful of getting the season underway before the break of more than two weeks for the holidays begins.
