Dale Lynn McDonald, age 66, of Scranton, IA, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, December 15, 2020.

Funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at the Scranton Community Center with Rev. Gary Hoyt officiating.  Casket bearers will be Dax Lautner, Adam Ebersole, Brad Ebersole, Eddie Chavez, Nick Janning, John Hedges, Chad Hicks, Cole Hastings.  Honorary casket bearers will be Dale’s grandchildren and friends Rod Wolf, Denny Wolf, Davy Wolf, John Marks, John Pemble, Don Christian, and Brent Goughner  Burial will be in the Scranton Township Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Friday at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Scranton from 5 – 7 P.M.   Additional visitation will be held at the Scranton Community Building from 9:30 A.M. on Saturday until the time of service.

Those in attendance at Dale’s visitation and funeral service are asked to abide by Covid-19 guidelines and facemasks are required.

Dale was born on August 11, 1954 in Jefferson, IA, and was the son of Harold De Hart and Nedra Ione (Mundt) McDonald.  He grew up in Scranton and graduated from Scranton Consolidated Schools in 1973.  He attended Scott Community College and earned a degree in motorcycle mechanics.  He returned to Scranton to farm with his father north of Scranton.  Dale was married to Gayla Marie Cooklin in 1976 and to this union two boys were born: Marty and Dusty, and Dale adopted Nicola Marie.  He started McDonald Washout Service in 1998 which continues to operate today.  In 1988 Dale established the British White Cattle Association in conjunction with Tom Zimmerman of Des Moines.  Dale loved to work hard and play hard.    He enjoyed farming, traveling and racing motorcycles, but his greatest accomplishment in life was raising his three children.

Dale is survived by his children: Nicki McDonald Montes of Gowrie, IA, Marty (Nina) McDonald of Scranton, and Dusty McDonald of Scranton; seven grandchildren; two sisters Carol (Lynn) Monthei of Ft. Collins, CO, and Danni (Jim) Crees of Frostproof, FL; and several nieces and nephews.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents Harold and Ione McDonald and his brother Jerry McDonald. Se
