covid-vaccine-arrival-2

The first shipment of COVID-19 vaccines has arrived in Dallas County Tuesday.

As the first shipment arrived the recommendation by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is to administer those to healthcare personnel and long-term care facility residents. Every long-term care facility in Dallas County has opted into the federal Pharmacy Partnership for Long-Term Care Program. The program partners a facility with a pharmacy that will administer the vaccine to all staff and residents who wish to receive it.

The Dallas County Health Department will be receiving vaccines mainly from Moderna during the initial distribution. The vaccine requires two doses that are given at least one month apart and is 95% effective in preventing COVID-19.
